The charge of the 12th century Spanish knights, The Order of St. James of the Sword, vowed to protect pilgrims and extirpate infidels.
An antiqued pewter cross pendant in a traditional style, raised in relief with fleur-de-lys ends to the arms of the cross and a sword-pointed shaft, and a dark, round hematite cabochon at its centre.
On a 21″ (53cm) black trace chain.

HISTORY
The Order of Santiago, also known as the Order of St. James of the Sword, was founded in Spain in 1170 AD . It began as an order of Knights to protect the pilgrims traveling to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia to visit the sepulcher of St. James from attacks by the Moors.
