Product Description
HISTORY
This brooch is styled after the Pennunular brooches which were often large and used as cloak fasteners in the Viking and Anglo-Saxon ages. Pennanular means incomplete circle which allows the pin fastener.
This particular brooch has a modern fastening on the back and it's named after the Tara brooch discovered in Ireland which now is displayed in the National Museum of Ireland, Dublin. The brooch was named after The Hill of Tara, the seat of the High Kings of Ireland, even though it was not found at Tara.
