LEGEND
Whitby, a fishing village on the coast of Yorkshire, England, was the domain of a dragon in bygone days but the people of the village asked the Benedictine Monks to rid them of this threatening dragon. They built an abbey above the town much to the displeasure of the dragon and the monks banished the dragon to the sea. It is said he returns every seven years in a rage hence those North sea storms!
Whitby is said to be the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s book ‘Dracula’ and it is where Dracula landed in a storm – maybe the dragon’s rage.
