HISTORY
SPORRAN
A Scotsman wearing his clan kilt must always wear a sporran to hold his belongings as he has no pockets in his kilt.
Traditionally there are three types of sporrans made from leather.
For Formal occasions the sporran will be covered in fur which used to be seal skin but nowadays it is normally rabbit fur of cowhide. The top of the sporran with the closing mechanism is metal which can be pewter or silver, often embellished with a Cairngorm stone. This type is referred to as a Dress or Formal Sporran.
For Everyday wear the sporran will be all leather without the ornate decoration.
Alternatively, there is an option to wear a Semi-Dress sporran for any occasion which will have some fur but no metal ornament.
This flask emulates a Dress sporran.
