SCOTTISH PEBBLE OR AGATE JEWELLERY
The 1800's Celtic Revival movement in Scotland saw the production of beautiful brooches made with local agates and semi-precious stones. Usually set in silver so the jewellery was affordable for more people. Queen Victoria's enthusiasm for Highland wear encouraged this fashion.
The rich gold colour of the Cairngorm, a type of Citrine, is often used for the large central stone of the brooch.
