Product Description
HISTORY
CASHMERE
Cashmere is the wool spun from the inner fleece of the cashmere goat, originating in Kashmir but now produced primarily in Mongolia, but also China, Iran and Afghanistan. The outer coat of the cashmere goat is hard and wiry to resist harsh weather conditions but the inner fibre is soft and luxurious. Cashmere has a close association with Scotland because in past centuries the Scots were great traders and explorers. They brought back cashmere wool and with the expertise of the Scottish weaving industry produced some of the finest cashmere shawls, scarf and knitted garments, renowned the world over.
