LEGEND
THISTLE
The Thistle is the National emblem of Scotland - and here is the story of how it came about. In 1263AD, Haakon of Norway attacked Scotland with a huge army of Vikings. There was a terrible storm at sea and many ships ran aground on the Scottish shoreline. As survivors struggled ashore a soldier stepped on a thistle, crying out alerted a sentry. So on 2nd October near Largs Alexander III, King of the Scots defeated the Vikings. Hence the Thistle became the National flower of Scotland. A great story!
