ST.CUTHBERT
St.Cuthbert was a saint of the early Celtic Northumbrian church (634 – 687 AD). He was a monk, bishop and hermit associated with Melrose, Scotland and Lindisfarne off the Northumbrian coast. Much loved and reverred, after the Viking invasion and sacking of the Lindisfarne community in 793 his body was saved and his body and relics were taken around the North of England claiming many miracles. Eventually his body was buried in Durham Cathedral in 995. It is said his body didn’t decompose when it was re-interred.
