A handsome, crowned bust of Richard The First showing his Heraldic Lion on his surcoat designed and made by David Morton of Marcus Replicas.
This is a heavy piece and can stand alone or be used as a book end.

Richard I, THE LIONHEART
Famously Richard I only spent 8 months of his 10 year reign in England, and when he did it was primarily to raise money for the Crusades. He earned his name 'The Lionheart' from his extraordinary skill and leadership on the battlefield. A leader of the Third Crusade he defeated Saladin, the Muslim commander, but he was unable to recapture Jerusalem.
MARCUS DESIGNS/ REPLICAS
A manufacturer of Medieval reliefs and busts based in the Vale of Belvoir, Leicestershire, established by the artist David Morton and salesman Brian Flannery in the 1960's and closing down in the early 2000's. The plaques are sort after by collectors because of their historical accuracy and excellent design.
