Unique Pair of Medieval Knight Statues/Bookends

SKU: RF-0026
1 in stock
A very unusual find of two very heavy Knights in Armour, one holding a sword and the other an axe and shield. There is no maker’s mark or indicator of age, so presumably very few were made. (The shield has two minor nicks on it and one minor nick to the axeman’s arm.)
They make excellent book ends but stand alone as figurines.
(3.80 kilos – Extra shipping charge for weight, please enquire.)
Knight with axe 27 cms height, Knight with sword 29 cms height.
Please note this item requires special packing and extra shipping costs may apply.

KNIGHTS
A Knight ('Chevalier' in French and 'Ritter' in German) were professional cavalry warriors of the Medieval period in Western Europe. It became the expected behaviour of a Knight to respect the Church, protect the poor and weak of society, be loyal to the feudal lord or military superiors and to have personal honour and integrity. This ideal became a realization during the Crusades from the end of the 11th century when the Knights of Europe came to-gether against a common enemy.
