LEGEND
Norse Mythology from Northern Europe in particular Scandinavia and Iceland is rich with many Gods and heros. The stories or Sagas were handed down by mouth and in Medieval times written down.
One of the most iconic Gods was Thor, the God of Thunder who protected humanity with his famous hammer 'Mjölnir' which had the power of utter destruction.
The 'Mjölnir' was a Viking warrior's most treasured amulet and this torque is of a design found in the British Isles which often had Celtic influence as seen here which includes the Triquetra, a symbol of the continuity of life. The Vikings invaded and settled in Britain fron 793AD with the last invasion in 1066AD.
