LEGEND
The famous legend of St.George and the Dragon originated in the Middle East where a fiery dragon was placated by townspeople leaving sacrifices of sheep, but when the sheep were all gone then children were offered to the dragon. It came to an end when the princess was offered and St.George killed the dragon to save her.
St.George is the patron saint of many countries including England and the St.Georges cross, red on white, was used by knights fighting in the Crusades.
