Product Description
HISTORY
LEWISIAN
Lewisian is a metamorphic rock called Gneiss primarily from the Isles of Lewis and Harris off the North West of Scotland. It is one of the oldest rocks in the world and can be up to 3 billion years old. It was formed under intense heat and pressure and shows the lovely green and rusty coloured layering and marble effects from Feldspar, Quartz and Epidote and other minerals.
The Scots treasured Lewisian and it has been made into jewellery for centuries and is often referred to as 'Pebble' jewellery.
TRIQUETRA
The Triquetra with three points became known as the Trinity knot and was used to indicate the Holy Trinity in Christianity. The symbol pre-dates Christainity and the Celtic Druids celebrated the number 3 as a mystical and perfect number. It is thought this design originally represented the continuity of life.
