Product Description
LEGEND
According to many myths, the hare symbolises femininity, longevity and rebirth and is associated with the lunar cycle. The Anglo-Saxons depicted Ostara, the goddess of the moon, fertility and spring, with a hare’s head. Eostre, the Celtic version of this goddess was said to be a shape-shifter who turned into a hare at full moon.
It's easy to understand the connection with the Hare and Spring. The Spring Equinox occurs in March when hares are mating and seen boxing hence the Mad March Hare. Spring is a time of re-birth and for pagan society's in the Northern Hemisphere this must have been a magical time of the year emerging from the cold desolation of Winter. A time for celebration.
