HISTORY
The design of Irish County Tartans is a relatively new occurence although some ancient pieces of tartan have been found in Ireland. Local plants would have determined the colour of the dye used on the wool so probably yarns would have varied according to different geographical area.
The most well known of the Irish tartans are the county tartans designed by Polly Wittering for the House of Edgar around 1996. These are the tartans which The Celtic Knot have to offer.
