HISTORY
THE WELSH LOVESPOON
The custom of giving a carved wooden spoon as a love token originated in Wales as far back as the 1600's when a man would carve the handle of a wooden spoon for his betrothed. By Victorian times the carvings were quite elaborate and the custom of giving a lovespoon for a special occasion included loved ones, family members and friends. Each spoon will have a special meaning as indicated by the symbols carved on it..
