In The Scottish Language ‘Tod’ Means Fox

Posted in ,

This makes you think about the use of ‘Tod’ in many books, such as the wonderful Beatrix Potter’s ‘A Tale of Mr.Tod’.
More recently the multiple versions of Ursula Todd’s life in ‘Life After Life’ by Kate Atkinson. The book tells the story of the Todd family who live in ‘Fox Corner’.

The English language is full of words from other cultures. Apparently a good proportion of our words have Old Norse (Viking) origins. Maybe Tod originated in Scandinavia?
